Business Continuity Governance Assessment
Business Continuity Governance Assessment
Boards often approve a BCP without knowing whether it gives the CEO authority to act, the Board the right information, and management a clear pathway for escalation, communication, recovery and review.
This assessment gives Chairs, CEOs, Directors, Company Secretaries, CFOs and risk leaders a structured view of whether business continuity is being governed at board level, or left to operational habit, vendor assumptions and informal escalation.
What it covers
Ten questions across three areas:
- Board visibility, authority and escalation
- Recovery priorities, external parties and communications
- Framework use, records and improvement
What you receive
- A completable Business Continuity Governance Assessment (PDF with response fields)
- An interpretation of the gaps and uncertainties identified in your responses
- A reasoned conclusion, including whether any further action is needed
- A one-page summary you can share with the Chair, CEO or Company Secretary, or table at a board meeting
This is for your board if
- your BCP has been approved, but the Board has limited evidence that it works
- escalation depends on judgement, availability or habit
- the CEO’s authority during disruption is unclear
- directors may receive too much operational detail, too little useful information, or updates too late
- critical functions and recovery priorities have not been documented or validated
- insurer, legal, vendor or regulator pathways are incomplete or outdated
- post-incident findings and remediation rarely reach the Board in a useful form
